NAD+ precursors (NR, NMN, niacinamide)
NAD+ precursors are supplements that the body converts into NAD+, a molecule every cell needs to produce energy and repair DNA. Nicotinamide riboside and nicotinamide mononucleotide are sold for aging, energy, and metabolic claims, and they are regulated as supplements, so the FDA does not review them before sale. Nausea, flushing, and mild stomach upset are reported in trials, and they are generally well tolerated at studied doses. The key safety point is that raising blood NAD+ is well documented, while benefits for health outcomes in people are not.
