Insulins

Insulins replace or supplement the body's own insulin, moving glucose into cells and lowering blood sugar. They are essential in type 1 diabetes and are also used in type 2 diabetes, diabetes during pregnancy, and diabetic emergencies. Products are grouped by how fast they start, when they peak, and how long they last, which determines when each dose is given relative to meals. Low blood sugar is the main danger, so glucose is checked regularly and a fast-acting source of sugar is kept on hand.
